The whole of PUGweb is a wiki but the term will generally be used for the parts that are intended for existing PUG members and Pedigree/Tree users.

As with any web site, this is under continuous development … plans include putting Rod Clayburn's PUG-L digests online which will enable them to be updated where appropriate and to be searched (top right below the PUG logo).

A number of utility programs have been produced by Murray Kennedy and by Colin Liebenrood. These can be found in the - utilities - section of PUGweb.

A number of ancillary resources have been produced too, these can be found in the - resources - section of PUGweb.

PUG-L is the PUG Members' email list.

Members can ask for login details(*) so they can make use of the Members' Area to create their own pages. Pages in the Members' Area should be considered as personal, the content may not reflect the PUG 'party line' and probably has not been carefully checked in the way that Colin's FAQ has.

(*) Requests should be sent to the Membership Secretary.

The Pedigree-Software pages contain Murray's web site. In time these will be styled to make it clearer that they are not, strictly, PUG pages.

With increasing information and options available online to PUG members, I feel it might be useful to clarify how we access our various offerings.

If you receive emails with [PUG-L] in the subject line then you have at some time joined our mailing list. In this case, you do have an associated email address and password (but no user name) which enables you to send messages to the list and allows you to change your subscription details, including your email address. To join the list for the first time, start here:

You receive a reminder on the first of each month for this list. This also tells you how to use the list and make changes. (The Membership Secretary can make the changes for you if you get stuck.)

To access this area, you do need a different (and new) user-id and password. From this area you can download the newsletter as a PDF as well as, or instead of, receiving it by post. You can also enter some brief details about yourself and your research interests if you wish. Contact membership@pugweb.org.uk initially; your new user-id and password will thereafter be generated by Malcolm Austen.

You do not need a user name or password to access the utility programs provided by Murray Kennedy and Colin Lieberood, which are now up to date for Windows 7 and 8 users. You do need a password to install PediTree updates, as supplied by Murray Kennedy. But he always includes the password in his update email.

Remember that Murray's list of users is entirely separate from our membership list; we will exchange information only if you specifically request it (e.g. passing on a change of address).

Once you have your login details, disposable experimental edits can be done in the playground or in your own personal wiki-space.
